Six plans, each with a clear job
Pick the plan that matches where you are right now. Every plan uses the same teaching loop: explain, practice, quiz, correct, retest.
General Education
Who it serves: Learners rebuilding a broad foundation, returning adults, and homeschool families who want one coherent sequence.
What students learn: Core reading, writing, arithmetic, civics, and study skills, sequenced so each unit uses what the previous one taught.
Math
Who it serves: Students from arithmetic through algebra and pre-calculus who need the reasoning, not just the answer key.
What students learn: Place value, fractions, ratios, linear and quadratic equations, functions, and graphing, each worked on the whiteboard before practice.
Science
Who it serves: Middle school through introductory college learners in biology, chemistry, and physics courses.
What students learn: Matter and energy, cells and genetics, chemical reactions, forces and motion, plus how to read data and design a fair test.
Reading & Language
Who it serves: Readers building fluency and comprehension, and writers who want their arguments to land.
What students learn: Decoding and vocabulary, main idea and inference, text evidence, grammar and mechanics, and paragraph-to-essay structure.
CLEP Prep
Who it serves: Adult learners and college students preparing for College-Level Examination Program subject exams.
What students learn: Subject content review, exam-style item practice, timing strategy, and mastery checks on the topics each exam actually weights.
Complete DAT Prep
Who it serves: Pre-dental applicants working through a full Dental Admission Test study cycle.
What students learn: Biology, general and organic chemistry, perceptual ability, quantitative reasoning, and reading comprehension, with timed sets and error review.
How Northstar teaches

Sabina (pronounced Sah-BEE-nah) explains one step at a time while the whiteboard works the same step in front of you. Then the lesson hands the pen over: practice, a quiz without hints, and a correction aimed at the exact step that slipped.

Step through the board yourself
These are not videos. Each frame is rendered by the interface, so you can stop on any step, go backwards, and read a written caption of exactly what the board shows.
Every frame is drawn by the interface itself, so the same board can be paused, replayed, or read as text.
Proficiency
One lucky correct answer is not learning
A single right answer can come from a hint, a pattern in the choices, or a guess. Northstar only marks a module proficient when three things happen together.
Consistent retrieval
The skill has to come back correctly on separate days and in mixed practice, not once in a row while the example is still on screen.
Limited hint dependence
We track how many hints a student used and how heavy they were. Answers that only appear after a full walkthrough do not count as mastery.
Transfer to a fresh example
The final check uses a problem the student has never seen, with different numbers, wording, or context, to confirm the method transferred.
Retooled and retaught
A failed module is not simply repeated. The lesson is rebuilt around the specific step that broke, taught again, and only then retested.
The AI tutor
Sabina keeps the thread of your session
Sabina holds the current lesson context and what has already been worked on in this session, so a question in step six can refer back to the mistake in step two. She can pull up the whiteboard mid-conversation to draw an explanation instead of describing it in words.
Student responses and any correction Sabina proposes are routed to a separate assessment agent, which decides whether the work counts toward proficiency. Judgment calls that fall outside clear boundaries are flagged for human review rather than settled automatically.

50-question mastery quiz. At the end of a plan, a cumulative 50-question quiz pulls from every module, mixes topics out of order, and runs without hints. Modules that fall short are retooled, retaught, and retested before the quiz is offered again.
Daily outcomes email
Opt in and a short recap arrives once a day: lessons finished, accuracy, hint usage, which modules were retooled, and what is scheduled next. Off by default, one click to turn off again, and sent only to addresses that confirmed the opt-in.
